Conneq's New Chapter: Elevating Freelancer Standards and Reinforcing Customer Trust

When we started Conneq over a year ago, we envisioned a community where businesses could engage with talented freelancers and build great crews to support their event and project needs. We also saw a huge opportunity to help freelancers showcase their skills, find gig-based work, and get paid quickly without the usual hassle.

Over the past year, we’ve met some incredible freelancers who have helped us shape our company and build a diverse and talented community of nearly a thousand strong! And customers have taken notice. We’ve had the good fortune of working with some of the top event producers and enterprises on the planet.

And then we had a mishap. More than a mishap. One of our freelancers showed up to a customer’s gig a couple weeks ago and was not only unprofessional, but argumentative and antagonistic with our customer!  We managed to diffuse the incident, but make no mistake about it—this was a company-defining moment for us. We asked ourselves: what do we stand for as a company? And how do we protect our community from the few “bad eggs” who risk spoiling it for everyone?

First and foremost, we want to publicly apologize to our affected customer. We take full responsibility for this unfortunate incident and will do whatever it takes to earn your trust again.

This past week, we implemented a robust verification and screening program at Conneq. Every single one of our freelancers, old and new, must meet specific criteria to work gigs for Conneq and our customers. This includes a live video onboarding call, identification verification, background check, profile headshot, and more. We will not assign a freelancer to a gig unless they have achieved 100% verified status. Plain and simple. End of story.

And this got us thinking: why stop at verification? Why not offer training? We constantly hear from customers that they need more entry-level talent but they are understandably concerned about quality. We have many early-in-career freelancers who are eager to do great work but just need a few pointers and basic skills to get going. Look for an announcement this coming week about our inaugural in-person training event to be hosted by one of our most experienced freelancers!

This is all to say that we are proud to announce our new mission:
Easily and confidently hire IT freelancers fast.

For freelancers, join us, and we will help you be your best, grow your business, and thrive! For customers, join us, and we will connect you to the best talent on the planet and give you simple tools that save your business time and money.

Humbly,
